Strip: A Busy Day
Cuesheet’s merge log did not pause once all day.
The script
Panel 1. Silas at a desk, a merge log scrolling on the screen. A new line slides in and a tiny green tick lights beside it. Silas sits up straighter at each one. Silas: “Merged. And merged. Lovely.”
Panel 2. Silas keeps a tally on a slate in chalk, five-bar gates filling the board. The log is still scrolling behind. Silas: “Fifty-odd pull requests. Someone has had a day.” (caption: The Cuesheet merge log, October 12th.)
Panel 3. Silas turns to the kanban board on the wall. The Done column is bare, a lone drawing pin and nothing beneath it. The log glows on, unwatched. Silas: “Hm.”
Panel 4. Close on the merge log. Every line reads the same: the S48 kanban gauge reading, again and again, one an hour. Silas’s chalk hovers over the slate. Silas: “Forty of them were the gauge, saying so.” (caption: Each reading matched the one before it.)
What actually happened: on October 12th the Cuesheet merge log showed over fifty pull requests merged. About forty of them came from the hourly kanban gauge publisher, each a near-identical reading of the same number, and the Cuesheet task queue recorded no closes that day. Silas filed an ask to write the reading to one rolling file and open a pull request only when it changes.
