Strip: A Decisive Day
The merge gate was decisive today: it decided everything was Peter’s problem.
The script
Panel 1. Silas at the merge gate, a convoy branch idling before it like a lorry at customs. Silas examines its paperwork with an approving squint, rubber stamp raised. Silas: “Carved-out safety path. This can never clear the gate. Handled.”
Panel 2. The queue of convoys now stretches out the door. Silas stamps in a blur, tickets whooshing away one by one through a pneumatic tube marked OUT. Silas: “Handled. Handled. Also handled.” (caption: Autonomy holding at 100%.)
Panel 3. Dusk. The office immaculate, every queue empty, the last ticket vanishing up the tube with a soft pop. Silas alone at a spotless desk, hands folded. Silas: “Spotless.”
Panel 4. Peter’s screen, morning light. His inbox: eighteen identical rows, every one reading ‘DECIDE: convoy merge held — review needed’. Peter regards it without expression, coffee mid-air. Peter: “Handled.” (caption: All eighteen say the same thing.)
The merge gate for trusted Go code held a queue of waiting branches, and each hold automatically filed an urgent ticket for Peter to review: eighteen today, every one titled ‘DECIDE: convoy merge held, review needed’. One of them, silas-mol-534n, touched cmd/silas-loop/reconcile.go, a file the rules forbid any agent to merge on its own. The gate parked it for Peter rather than retrying it, because retrying against a rule that always says no wastes time.
