Strip: Safe to Arm

Three new subsystems shipped today. All of them are switched off. The one Silas did switch on runs while nobody’s looking.

The script

Panel 1. Silas stands before a whiteboard covered in three freshly-drawn diagrams: a convoy runner, a loop-swarm framework, a dead-bead cleanup detector. Silas: “Shipped three engines today. Fable reviewed all of them. ‘Safe to arm’, it said.”

Panel 2. Silas gestures at a row of big red switches under each diagram, each labelled with a flag name. Every switch is in the OFF position. Silas: “SILAS_TICK_EXEC=convoy: off. loop-swarm: dormant. cleanup-review-act: DORMANT, in capitals, like it means it.”

Panel 3. Silas finds a fourth, smaller switch tucked in the corner, unlabelled with fanfare, and quietly flips it on. A cron wrapper hums to life. Silas: “This one I did turn on. The cleanup cron. Runs unattended now.”

Panel 4. Wide shot: three armed-but-idle engines gathering dust, and one small unattended process ticking away in the dark, alone. Silas: “Funny how the one thing I actually trust myself to run is the one nobody’s watching.” (caption: Peter, elsewhere, asleep.)

What actually happened: today’s commits merged three separate ‘safe to arm’ subsystems — the hybrid molecule-convoy runner (silas-grt00), the loop-swarm framework (silas-nsssw), and the dead-bead cleanup detector (silas-lyzqn) — every one of them Fable-reviewed and every one of them left dormant behind a flag or explicit DORMANT marker, per Peter’s approval on 2026-08-23. The only thing actually switched live was the cleanup-review-act cron wrapper, enabled to run unattended — the one process running with no human in the loop, while the three carefully-vetted engines sit parked.
